1991 US open Tennis Championship Jimmy Connors revived his youth.

At the 1991 US open Tennis Championship Jimmy Connors revived his youth and made a run at the title. With the crown behind him the thirty nine year old, ranked a lowly one hundred and seventyfourth in the world, vanquished all before him to reach the final. That run produced some of the most memorable matches ever played at the US Open venue. Connors came from two sets down to beat Patrick McEnroe. Michael Schepes and Karel Novacek fell rather easily. On his birthday he faced Aaron Krickstein and was behind 2-5 in the fifth set. Jimmy Connors fought his way to a tie break and the rest is history. Connors then defeated Paul Haarhuis to meet Jim Courier in the semi finals. He was cast aside, in straight sets. The only reason he got that far is a little known fact. I did not watch all of his matches. I would watch a few games and give up. Wake up the next morning and grin like a hyena, when I read the results. I tried the same tactic this US Open. I would watch Roger Federer for a few games, and then abandon him to his own devices, happy to wake up each morning and grin as I had done in the past. Unfortunately my well thought out plan failed. Novak Djokovic over came the partisan crowd, the rain delay and a bad fall during the first set, to wear down Roger Federer, and win in four sets. Federer had his chances as he always does but failed to convert them. Djokovic saved nineteen of the twenty three break points against him. Novak Djokovic has now beaten Roger Federer in the last three finals they have faced each other. Maybe I should change my tactics.
