2016 NFL Playoff Prediction.

Posted by

This weekend’s NFL playoff games are getting urgent. All eight teams are two games away from a chance at the fancy ring that for many, is the reason they play, and defines a career. The Patriots have shattered the dreams of many hopefuls. All the talking heads are pointing to streaks, playoff experience, Tom Brady and Bill Belichick as to the reason the New England Patriots will emerge victorious. The Kansas City Chiefs are on a roll and fear will not be a factor when they line up against the Patriots. The Las Vegas books have the Chiefs covering and I believe that if they get that close they may just emerge victorious

The Green Bay Packers face the Arizona Cardinals in the late game on Saturday. When you look at the stats on these two teams their records are misleading. Green bay leads the Cardinals in nearly all categories. The twelve day rest may benefit them greatly. Arizona is playing at home but Green Bay will be grateful for the warm playing conditions and push Arizona all the way. The Las Vegas books have pointed out that the Packers are 8-1-1 in their last ten games as underdogs in January. Green bay have their confidence back after the win last week and are itching to avenge their worst loss of the year when the Cardinals were whipped in all phases of the game earlier this year. Green Bay may pull an upset this weekend

Sunday brings Seattle Seahawks at the Carolina Panthers. I expect this will be the best game of the weekend. The Panthers received a wakeup call when they were beaten by the Atlanta Falcons. They handily dispatched the Buccaneers to restore faith among themselves and the fans but Seattle will be a problem. Talking heads say the difference is in the kickers. Everything else is a wash. Hauschka for Seattle has a better record than Gano, his Panthers counterpart. Home field may be the deciding factor in what is expected to be a high scoring game. The Panthers should “squeak” into the NFC Championship Game.

The late game is Pittsburgh at Denver, and the best has been kept until last. Two veteran quarterbacks in Ben Roethlisberger and Peyton Manning will lead their respective offenses. Both teams have injury issues that may affect the outcome but the experience of both squads will limit the damage. The Steelers are picked to manage the Broncos running game, while Denver is picked to manage the Steelers’ Running and Passing game. The Broncos lead the NFL in Pass defense, but I expect Ben Roethlisberger to find a way. Everyone is pointing to a Denver victory…. except me. If it is a tight game and I expect it will be.
