Ben Roethlisberger In The Record Books.

 Ben Roethlisberger Signed Steelers Jersey

The Pittsburgh Steelers 1934 uniform last evening had me thinking of the bumble bee. Large, not supposed to be able to fly by some calculations, slow, and cumbersome, But effective. Ben Roethlisberger throws for 522 yards during the game and the comparison suddenly makes sense. Ben is big, slow, cumbersome and not supposed to be as agile as he can show. But last night he silenced his critics by throwing his way into the record books. Twice now he has thrown for over 500 yards during an NFL official Game. The first to do so was Norm Van Brocklin in 1951 when the NFL was primarily a running game. Y A Tittle was the second to do so in 1962. Thirteen others have accomplished this feat, but none achieved the 500 yard plateau twice, as has Roethlisberger. Ben’s first 500 yard plus game was in December 2009 when he needed every inch of the yardage to beat the Green Bay Packers 37-36. I hope he can still smile at the photos from the game, as in the distant future, the comparison to the Bumble Bee will still prevail.
