Of the top fifty highest grossing movies of all time, eight are made specifically for children. Another twenty five of the top gross fifty grossing movies of all time are based on books or comics popular with the younger generation. Children’s movies continue to feature in all the “popular” lists. Frozen shows as 5th; Toy Story 3 shows as 13th; The Lion King shows as 20th; Finding Nemo shows as 28th; Shrek 2 shows as 31st; Ice Age series are 34th and 36th respectively; and Shrek the third is 45th. The other top fifty highest grossing movies favored by the younger generation include the Harry Potter series, The Twilight Saga, Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit and the Pirates of the Caribbean series. Now there is another contender. Cinderella was released on March 13th and the total US box office surpasses $120 Million. Far ahead of the other movies, currently playing. Disney Studios has remade the 1950’s classic featuring Lilly James as Cinderella and Cate Blanchett as her Evil Stepmother. Richard Madden is cast as the Prince and Helen Bonham Carter as her Fairy Godmother. The initial reviews are in and the box office success looks like they have another hit on their hands.
