Monday I had a meeting. An important occasion, with a lot of people. I had to explain to them that I had a new phone and did not know how to turn the ringer off. True to form it rang twice at an inopportune time. A good laugh was had by all at my expense. To further my humiliation, Wednesday, the European Space Agency landed the Philae Lander on a comet. Dispatched in 2004 the landing craft has travelled over 3.7 billion miles, to land on a comet, circling the sun, at as much as 84,000 miles per hour. Then, the landing was accomplished only 55 yards from their targeted landing zone. Incredible. How do they do that?. Talk about forward thinking. Most people do not know what they are doing next week let alone 10 years in advance. Science fiction comes alive. “Star Wars” and “Star Trek” meet reality. I was astounded at the feat. I was a little saddened that it took another Space agency other our own to achieve it.
