Yogi Berra was a great baseball player.

Yogi Berra was a great baseball player. He was a team mate to many of the best players ever to play the game. His participation in fourteen World Series and winning ten of them is still a record. He caught Don Larsen’s 1956 World Series “perfect game. A Baseball Hall of Fame inductee in 1972; the greatest of his many honors. His baseball feats are remembered by many but his most remembered feats may have come from his mouth, rather than his baseball prowess. Everyone has their favorites. He once said of a restaurant “nobody goes there anymore…..it’s too crowded”. The quote that appeals to me is “You can observe a lot by watching”. He saved his greatest praise for his team mates. Sandy Koufax received his admiration when he stated “I can see how he won twenty-five games. What I don’t understand is how he lost five”. Joe DiMaggio deserved “I wish everybody had the drive he had. He never did anything wrong on the field. I’s never seem him dive for a ball, everything was a chest-high catch, and he never walked off the field”. I have always been a believer in one line quotations that guide your principles and practices. “Begin….. the rest is easy”. “Amateurs practice until they get it right….Professionals practice until they cannot get it wrong”, but the top of my list has always been a quote attributed to Yogi Berra “If you don’t know where you’re going….You might end up somewhere else” Oh how true.
