The 1980 Wimbledon Men’s Singles match is considered one for the ages. John McEnroe may have lost the match but he won the battle of the fourth set when the tie breaker finally went his way 18-16. Having given his all, he succumbed to the relentless Bjorn Borg 8-6 in the final set. Still talked about today, this authentically signed collage bears both the winners and losers signature on the center photo showing the two finalists in a posed 8x10 color photo, after the match. Four 6x8 color images from the same event continue to tell the story as Bjorn Borg lifting the Men’s Singles trophy over his head, while the image of McEnroe shows the slumped shoulders of defeat. Two action images from that day complete the shadowbox featuring a tennis ball showing the Slazenger, Wimbledon, logo. Three black and gold informative plaques continue to tell the story. Matted and framed as shown on black fabric, each image highlighted with cream and green matt, and framed in black “Leather” with gold accents frame to an approximate overall size of 36x22x4 inches.
