The Wright Brothers flew from the raised sand dunes of Kitty Hawk North Carolina on December 17, 1903. To this day it is recognized as the first powered flight. Shown here is a black and white photo taken during that brief flight. Below are two replica, checks. One features the signature of the pilot that day Orville Wright, and the other features the handwriting of Wilbur Wright. Wilbur never signed his name on the company checks, always in the third person.
